Piper Is Here!

I know it's already been a month, but things have been a little bit crazy around here. Piper was born August 1st at 5:43 pm, weighing in at 9 pounds, 7 ounces and 20 1/2 inches long. She is absolutely perfect. Here are a few pictures from the hospital:

We look pretty chipper for 4 am, huh?

Mom is still finishing with her c-section, but she's excited to see Piper

Proud dad, running on adrenaline

Just a few minutes old and already posing for the camera

Lot of proud grandparents...

...and lots of excited friends.

Piper's Nursery

Over the last few months we had to channel our inner interior designer to get Piper's nursery ready. We wanted to make sure everything looked great for her, coordinated well with the rest of the house, and didn't break the bank. Let's see how it turned out...

Antique bentwood rocker from the flea market

Antique chest from Ami's great-grandparents (and her college apartment)

Hours and hours of sanding, painting, distressing, and finishing in the garage

Did I mention that it took hours and hours? And hours?

The finished product(s) were worth it. Here's the newly remodeled rocker..

...and chest of drawers.

Beautiful crib courtesy of the Parrish family (and don't forget the custom bedding)

Changing table, baskets, changing pad and mirror

Ready-made bedding is great, but it's just not our style. We searched lots of stores, bought our fabrics, designed the bedding and had a local seamstress create Piper's one-of-a-kind look.

Custom curtains hand-made by Ami (can you see Ty in this picture?)

We really wanted the room to have a neutral base with a few colorful accents

What more could a little girl want?

Baby Brunch

A couple of weekends ago, Tisha Perkins and Heather Kee hosted a baby brunch in Pickwick. Lots of Chi Omegas and a few other special guests enjoyed brunch at Tisha's beautiful home. Thanks to these ladies for being such great friends!

Thanks so much to everyone - you're all so generous!

Showers, Showers & More Showers

Over the past several weeks, we have been blessed with several baby showers. We have received so many things, we're really not sure where we're going to put it all! It's been a lot of fun, though, and we still have another one in a couple of weeks.

Up first, the "Lunch Bunch" & Math Department at the high school held a shower during the last week of school:

 Teresa & Mary Grace

Excited about all of the gifts!

It's nice to have a shower hosted by girls in the culinary arts department

Lots of cute gifts

Outfits, books, blankets...

Rebecca, Ami & Andrea - 3 teachers getting ready for maternity leave!

Next up was the shower at our home church, FBC Counce, hosted by Memory Parrish, Judy Tyler, Beverly Taylor and Tena Ballard:

Theresa, Ami & Rusty

Christian, Ami, Ty, Susan & Robert

So many gifts!

 Look at the clothes...

...and more clothes (gotta love those Republican elephants)

Did we mention that we got a lot of gifts?

Finally, we headed back to North Metro FBC in Georgia for shower hosted by Ami's aunts and grandmother. Saw lots of family and friends from high school and church:

4 generations (if you count Piper)

Mary, Kim, Ami & Brenda (Ami's aunts)

Sarah, Ami, Theresa & Lacey

Anna Claire insisted on looking at Ami during the pictures
